So what exactly is, collagen?
Well, I looked in one of Florian’s anatomy textbooks and it had lots of technical words. All I could make out was the word, protein.
With a little extra help from Google and Heathline, I learned,
“Collagen is a protein that provides structure to much of your body, including bones, skin, tendons and ligaments.”
So without getting too scientific, Collagen is a protein, one of the most abundant at that, too!
It is the major player when it comes to the body’s connective tissues and makes up several body parts, including tendons, ligaments, skin, and muscles
As we get older, our body produces lower-quantities of the protein, which is a key contributor to the skin’s loss of firmness- hooray!
I’m trying really hard not to be bothered by my newly discovered fine lines around my eyes, but from time to time I catch myself inspecting the area and feeling disappointed.
I think from the above vanity, I’ll get two possible responses:
- “Ageing is beautiful and wrinkles are a sign of a life well lived” or
- “It’s only downhill from here!”
Being more receptive to anti-aging content, over the last few months, I’ve taken notice The Beauty Chef in my social feeds.
From beauty editors to media professionals, it was beauty-guru, Eleanor Pendleton, who convinced me to check the brand out.
One product in particular that sparked my deep dive into collagen was the Inner Beauty Boost.
Their website indicates the product is an elixir that helps support collagen production, cultivate a smoother complexion and maintain healthy skin, hair and nails from the inside out.
When launching the brand, The Beauty Chef founder, Carla Oates, had a vision to educate and inspire by sharing her philosophy that ‘beauty begins in the belly.’ When it comes to glowing skin, we first need to nourish ourselves from within.
The product claims it helps preserve the skin’s structural proteins and protect against free radical damage.
With incredible ratings online I decided to purchase a bottle to test it out.
I will hopefully receive my bottle soon and I’ve be sure to keep you up to date with how I go!
