I may be a little late to the party- I had The Bodyguard and Sinner season two to stream through- but I am absolutely loving the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina on Netflix.

Growing up, I religiously followed the original, Sabrina the teenage witch, and longed to have magical powers like her.

Fast forward 15 years and Netflix have adapted the show, and comic by the same name into a brand new, 10-episode series.

I had read that the series would not be as light-hearted and humorous as the original but I wasn’t expecting it to be this dark. I’m not saying it’s the scariest tv show/movie I’ve ever watched by the MA15+ rating gives it a level of goriness and grit the original just couldn’t.

I also love the diversity of the cast with Kiernan Shipka in the lead as Sabrina Spellman. Although the show is primarily focused on the ‘becoming’ of Sabrina into a witch, the show has current issue undertones running throughout, with her group fighting transgender acceptance and women’s rights in a school that seems to be stuck decades ago.

I’m looking forward to finishing off the series and encourage you to start if you haven’t yet.

Enjoy watching witches!
