Sometimes it seems the world just wants us all to be uniform. Our heart skips a beat when Facebook notifies we’ve been tagged in a picture, we pray we look our best.
Don’t stand at the end of a group pic for fear of the dreaded ‘fat arm,’ stand up straight or your stomach will bulge, suck it in so your collarbone is more defined… To be honest, It’s all a little exhausting!
One woman, however, is challenging this notion of what beauty is and she goes by the name of Emilia Clarke. Best known as the mum of a couple of dragons on the HBO cult fav Game of Thrones, Clarke was recently crowned the new face of Dolce & Gabbana’s The One fragrance.
The fashion house top guns Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have described her as radiant and lively:
“Her personality and natural beauty will capture the essence of this new campaign: joyful, spontaneous and full of life. She is The One!”
I think what I love about her the most is she doesn’t take herself too seriously, a trait I need to remember more often than not.
I often worry if I’m using the best lighting and angles to capture the most flattering picture or if I’m going managing the highlighter/contour ratio correctly.
Let’s agree to chill out and rather than letting our insecurities control us, find the humour in our flaws because at the end of the day:
